About candles...

Soy wax, Cotton and Wood wick, Fragrance oil.

Each candle begins with the careful selection of high-quality natural ingredients, sourced from trusted suppliers across Europe.

We hand-pour our candles in small batches to ensure that every single one receives the attention and care it deserves.

Label design and printing are done in-house, right here in our own studio.

Finally, we package each item with dedication and love.

Lighting your Candle

The first time you burn your candle, it’s very important to keep it lit until the entire surface becomes liquid wax — ideally for 2 to 3 hours, but never more than 4. Since wax has a "memory," this prevents tunneling, where the candle burns down the center and leaves wax around the edges.
Light your candle in a well-ventilated area, away from drafts or wind that could disturb the flame. This helps keep the flame steady, ensures an even burn, and minimizes smoke.

Keep your wick trimmed to 5mm. If it develops a "mushroom" shape, simply nip off the top. This helps control the flame size and prevents the candle from burning too quickly.

Extinguishing your Candle

For safety, we recommend using a snuffer to extinguish your candle. Blowing it out can cause pieces of the wick to fall into the wax and may damage the wick itself.
Never extinguish your candle by placing the lid on it — this can cause smoke to build up on the glass, which not only looks unsightly but can also pose a safety risk.
And don’t forget...
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always place your candle away from drafts, children, and pets. Set it on a heat-resistant base and ensure it’s on a level, stable surface.
If soot forms on the inside of the jar, extinguish the candle, let it cool, then wipe the glass clean with a damp cloth. Trim the wick and relight
Due to the nature of our 100% pure soy wax, you may notice a slight frosting on the top of the candles. This is completely normal and a sign that the candles are made from natural soy wax.
Soy wax is non-toxic and eco-friendly.
It is biodegradable and can be cleaned with soap and water if spilled.
Soy candles offer a more natural, lighter scent compared to paraffin candles.

They burn cleaner and do not release potentially harmful petrochemicals into the air, making them ideal for people who are sensitive to the strong synthetic fragrances found in store-bought candles.

Handmade with love (and imperfections)

Each Rustic candle is handmade by me in my small home in Portugal. It’s an artisanal process — careful but real — which means each piece is unique and may have small imperfections.

You might find a slightly off-center label or wick, a mark on the glass, textured wax on the surface, or even a bit of frosting on the sides — a kind of natural crystal-like pattern that appears in plant-based waxes and does not affect the quality of the candle. On the contrary, it's part of the charm of working with noble ingredients and no artificial additives.

Thank you for choosing handmade. For choosing authenticity.
About our scents

We know that scent is something deeply personal. At Rustic, we don’t work with basic or typical combinations — we create blends based on our intuition, taste, and desire to experiment. Some scents may become your favorites, others might not be your style, but all of them are made with intention.

We’re thrilled that you’re willing to try our candles without smelling them first — it’s an act of trust we truly value. Every scent is a creative interpretation, a way of telling a story.

Soon, we’ll be launching a line of single-note scents — like vanilla, lavender, or eucalyptus — but they’ll live alongside our more daring blends, because we love exploring what happens when we play with the senses.
Thank you for joining us on this aromatic journey.
